How to get a North Dakota voter list for your campaign

Step by step

1. Find your district. Check your qualifying paperwork or your county elections office for the exact district, ward or precinct your race covers.
2. Order the matching list from the North Dakota Secretary of State. North Dakota has no voter registration and no posted order form. Call the Secretary of State's elections staff at 701-328-2900 and ask for a Central Voter File list for your district as a candidate, or ask your county auditor. 3. Get your file. The state does not publish a delivery method or timeline. After an election, the county auditor can also give you a copy of the pollbook list of who voted, by precinct or county, which is an open record.

• This is not a registration list. The Central Voter File is built from driver records and the pollbooks of people who have voted, so new residents and people who have never voted are missing.
• Voters who have not voted in four years are marked inactive. Filter to active voters to focus on people who actually turn out.
• Every record already carries its city, school district and county commissioner district, so one county or legislative list can be filtered to almost any local race.
• Get your list after the county auditor posts voting history from the last election, so the history is current.
• Phone numbers are not included. Collect them at the door and record them in CampaignKnock as you go.
