Who can order it

Anyone may request the Qualified Voter File under Michigan's Freedom of Information Act. Phone numbers, emails, full birth dates and ID numbers are exempt from release by law (MCL 168.509gg and 168.522).

Tips before you order

Check only one area in Section 2 of the form. Send a separate form for each list you need.
Check "All vote history" in Section 3. Otherwise you may get names and addresses only.
Skip the absent voter ballot data unless you need it. The form warns that it raises the cost a lot.
If the estimated cost is over $50, the state asks for a 50% deposit before it starts, and your request is dropped if you do not pay the balance within 45 days.
Phone numbers and emails are exempt from release in Michigan. Collect them at the door and record them in CampaignKnock as you go.
